About Us

DOP

Dominion Over Poverty (DOP) is a Register Charity number 1396 established in Barbados on November 1, 2018. DOP objectives are:

(a) The relief and prevention of poverty, however caused.

(b) To promote financial stewardship, especially among the poor, through Christian Churches and other Christian faith-based organisations.

DOP is a Christian ministry of Helps that considers poverty to be spiritual, social and psychological. DOP believes that victory over poverty can be experienced through the grace of Jesus and financial prudence. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9).

Poverty however caused is oppression. Poverty is expressed in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in need of everything. Chief causes of poverty are financial ignorance, unemployment and under-employment, addictions and laziness. Jesus came to relieve all who are oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.

GOVERNANCE

The governance of DOP is managed by its seven-member Board of Trustees (BOT) from several Christian churches. The Trustees are experienced professionals with training in law, accounting, banking, finance and theology. DOP’s BOT consist of a Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Secretary and Assistant Secretary, Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer, and Head, Operations and Management Information Systems.

MISSION STATEMENT

“DOP intends to be a lion ministry proclaiming that - Jesus has redeem us from the curse of the law (poverty), having been made a curse for us according to Galatians 3:13-14. Jesus’ victory on the cross is the right to dominion over poverty and the enabling power for serving Member Churches and their communities through faith in Jesus Christ and its financial stewardship programme”.

VISION STATEMENT

Empowered believers experiencing abundant living, excellence in stewardship providing for kingdom growth and enlargement.

VALUES

DOP holds a biblical world view and consider biblically grounded absolutes and truth fundamental to the nature of reality. In pursuit of the development of a culture that would create synergies and support DOP’s mission and vision, DOP has selected seven (7) values to inspire, motivate and produce the desired community. The seven values chosen are: compassion, humility, teamwork, diversity, respect, passion, and generosity.

/ 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? 1 Corinthians 12:27-29, NKJV.
